Board

David Eastlick (Chairman)
I have a PhD in chemistry and am now retired, having worked for Glaxo in Ulverston as a chemist in development and latterly participating in the implementation of projects that had come to fruition. Much of my time in retirement is spent in environmental work. My wife and I are the honorary managers of a nature reserve and I help other local environmental groups in work projects. I am interested in wind power and its contribution to supplement current sources of electricity.

Annette Heslop (Secretary)
Accounting Technician, with many years experience and specialising in computerised accounts. Annette is also a full time Energy4All employee and director. She runs the (growing) Energy4All office in Barrow and is responsible for maintaining the members' register, filing the annual return and producing the year end accounts ready for audit. Annette also deals with visitors to the Harlock Hill and Haverigg II wind farms.

Richard Scott (Press Officer)
Plant ecologist formerly with the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology Merlewood Research Station, with extensive experience in coastal and upland habitats in the UK. In the 1980s he was part of a team carrying out research for ETSU on the yield and distribution of biomass from vegetation as an energy crop. Richard is a founder member of Baywind and also the Chairman of the Baywind Energy Conservation Trust.

James Wood
I currently live and work in Lancaster as a musician and Adult Education Tutor. My interest in the co-operative movement stems from having been a member of Single Step Co-op Lancaster. As part of a team who collectively ran a small wholefood and book shop I was involved in the planning, decision making and day to day running of the business.

Charles Taylor - Elected May 2007 AGM
I have 30 years experience working in the power generation industry and for the last 4 years owning and running an industrial fencing and landscaping business. After graduation at Newcastle Polytechnic I worked on many sites in various parts of the world commissioning and supervising the construction of various power plants and industrial projects. In 1986 my wife and I moved to Australia where we stayed for nearly 7 years and I worked for consultant engineers on power and industrial projects. We returned to the UK in 1992 and I worked for Merz and McLellan (now part of Parsons Brinkerhoff) in Newcastle upon Tyne as a Senior Project Manager and later as Director of Projects. I left engineering 4 years ago and bought an industrial fencing and landscaping company that specialises in work on quarries.

Derek Elsworth - Elected May 2008 AGM
I am aged 58 and live in Swarthmoor within view of the Harlock Hill turbines.  I consider myself a knowledgeable amateur with respect for the environment and try at all times to live a life with full regard for all aspects of the environment.  I am currently providing free talks to any interested local organisations on ways of saving energy using my own circumstances as an example.

I have worked for two pharmaceutical companies for 32 years in total and am at present a self-employed contractor verifying installations at pharmaceutical premises. I have served as a trustee on the Baywind Energy Conservation Trust for a number of years and am also a member of the Ulverston Sustainability Action group.

Lorrie Marchington - Elected May 2009 AGM

I am currently semi-retired, with a  two  day a week appointment at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester as a research associate.  Most of my research has not been in the environmental field, although I recently took a Masters course in Environmental Resourcing at Salford University out of personal interest (Distinction).

I am extremely interested in renewable energy and in promoting a carbon-free lifestyle and I am an active member of FoE, as well as a member of Greenpeace and the Womens' Environmental Network and I have helped develop and piloted materials for the Energy Saving Trust.

I am keen to promote renewable energy production (particularly cooperative).  Our family has shares in Baywind, Westmill, and Fenland Co-operatives, the New Mills Hydro co-operative scheme  - as well as the phone co-op and co-operative group.

Alex Hassan - Elected May 2010 AGM

I am original member of Baywind and Fenland Green Power Co-op and I am an enthusiastic supporter of renewables and green energy.

My professional career has been in developing computer technology for leading corporations.  In July 2008, after 22 years in the industry I decided to retire from full time employment and spend more time pursuing those things I feel more strongly about.

I became further involved with Baywind a year ago as an advisor to the Board and have attended every Board Meeting since the last AGM.

Majid Siadat - Elected May 2010 AGM

I have been a member of Baywind since inception.  With an interest in renewable energy over many years.  I credit my forward thinking parents in helping me become interested in environmental issues over 30 years ago, even before becoming a teenager.

I am currently based in Newcastle upon Tyne, working as a consultant advising businesses on electronic product design and regulatory compliance.
