Energy4All Ltd and Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative welcome the Government's recognition of the role co-ops can play in renewable energy as the long awaited UK Renewable Energy Strategy 2009 was published. The report which was published today (15th July 2009), profiles co-operative and community owned approaches to renewable energy production and supply.
The report features a case study of our award winning Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative in Oxfordshire, which was set up with the support from Energy4All and raised over 4 million through a community share issue. Energy4All is cited as a main source of advice for community groups seeking to set up community owned renewable energy.
To read the relevant sections of the 236 page strategy setting out how the UK can source 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020, go to pages 158 to 164. You will find the Westmill case study on page 163.
